Pancake Estate - Our Wines

All the grapes used in the production of Pancake Estate wines are sourced solely from the Pancake Estate vineyard. Our grapes are not blended to maintain a consistent flavour. Therefore every vintage the wine is likely to be different, reflecting climatic factors – which all adds to pleasure of purchasing Pancake Estate wines on a consistent basis!!!

WINEMAKERS

Our wine is made by Colin Glaetzer and his son Ben at Barossa Vintners, Tanunda.

  • Colin Glaetzer was made a Baron of the Barossa in 2003 – an honour bestowed on gifted winemakers by their peers.
  • In September 2004 Ben won the Young Winemaker of the Year Award – presented by Gourmet Traveller Magazine and Qantas.

Screw top Stelvin caps ensure Pancake Estate wines have no taint of cork.

                    2007 UNWOODED SEMILLON

Our winemake Colin Glaetzer considers that the Pancake Estate Unwooded Semillon is different and more complex than any other Barossa Semillon that he has made in the past 35 years. This is almost certainly due to the location of the vineyard high above the Barossa Valley floor, which together with the cool gully winds sees the Semillon grapes ripen later.

Tasting notes by Jane Paull, independent wine consultant
  • Pale straw with lime green tints that are indicative of its freshness and vitality.
  • The nose displays vibrant fresh lemon zest overlaying a soft delicate floral background.
  • The palate is light bodied, dry and eligant.
  • Great zippy acidity.
  • Very good food wine.

Pancake Estate 2004 Shiraz

2005 SHIRAZ

Colin Glaetzer considers this wine to be a classic Barossa shiraz.
It was matured in American oak for 15 months, and has over 14% alcohol.

Tasting notes by Jane Paull, independent wine consultant–
  • Medium to full bodied, fruit driven wine which shows rich plumb and blackberry characters on the palate.
  • Finishes warm with soft ripe tannins and elegant acidity.
  • Enjoy now - or put away as it will continue to develop attractively in the bottle over the next 5 years or so.
